Closed Bottom
Used for rapid and uniform incorporation of dry and liquid ingredients.  Creates a deep vortex, exposing dry ingredients directly into the agitator blades.  This is a standard agitator for bakery applications.  Ideal for soluble, dry ingredients that want to float on the surface. 

Products normally used with this type of agitation are of a light viscosity, such as:
Bakery sponge
Gums and Stabilizers
Yeast Slurries

Agitator speeds are approximately 430 rpm maximum and can be furnished with single or two speed electric drives and variable electric or hydraulic drives, ranging from 1 to 20 hp and impeller diameters from 12 to 24” o.d.

Adjustable baffles can be provided for a vigorous blending action, but will reduce vortex action.

Open Bottom
Used for rapid and uniform incorporation of dry and liquid ingredients.  The “open bottom” pulls product off the cone bottom and prevents settling of solids.  Ideal for nonsoluble or hard to dissolve dry ingredients.

Agitator speeds are approximately 430 rpm maximum and can be furnished with single or two-speed electric drives and variable electric or hydraulic drives, ranging from 1 to 20 hp and impeller diameters from 12 to 24” o.d.

Adjustable baffles can be provided for a vigorous blending action, but will reduce vortex action.

Offset – No Baffle:
Used mainly for blending of ingredients with mild agitation.  The off-center position of the agitator provides wthis action without the need of a baffle.  Products best suited for this type of agitation are:
Buttermilk
Light Sauces
Ice Cream Mix
Fruit Drinks
Cream
Broths and Gravies, Etc.

Results are good mixing and solid suspension.  Agitator main speeds are approximately 97 rpm with single or two-speed drives, ranging from ¼ to 2 hp

Wide Sweep with Baffle:
Used for mild agitation of product forcing it down against the bottom and out and up the sides with a  fixed baffle assuring the blending action.  The products used with this type of agitation are the same as either the closed or open bottom and primarily light viscosities.

Agitator maxiumum speed is approximately 44 rpm and can be provided with single, or two-speed drives, ranging from 1/3 to 3 hp.

Total Sweep With Baffle:
Used in conjunction with flat or inverted dish bottoms affords a sweeping action over the heat exchange surface, allowing maximum heat transfer and providing a gentle mixing and blending enhanced by a fixed baffle.  It is best suited for light viscosity products, such as:
Light Sauces
Fruit Drinks
Milk Products
Creams
Soups, Gravies
And can be sued on heavier viscosity products (providing heat transfer not critical and cone bottom is used), such as:
Pizza Sauce
Pet Foods
Pie Fillings
Sour Cream, ect.

Agitator maximum speed is approximately 25 rpm and is available with single or two-speed electric drives, ranging from ½ to 7-1/2 hp.

Total Sweep Without Baffle:
Used in conjunction with cone bottom tanks for complete emptying and mild agitation of viscous products.  It is best suited for blending products, where foaming is a problem, such as:
Light or Heavy Sauces
Milk Products
Creams, etc.

Agitator maxiumum speed is approximately 25 rpm and is available with single or two-speed electric drives, ranging from ½ to 7-1/2 hp.

Scraper Blade With Baffle:
Used in conjunction with a cone bottom tank on products of a very viscous and tenacious nature.  Scraper blades remove product film from side and cone surfaces, greatly enhancing the heat transfer.  The mild agitation of the product is enhanced by the fixed baffle which also provides a blending and gentle folding action.  It is best suited for products, such as:
Pet Foods
Pumpkin Mix
Gravies
Bakery Sponge
Heavy Creams, etc.

Agitator maximum rpm is 20, available with single or two-speed drives, ranging from 1 to 7-1/2 hp.

Heavy Products Scraper Blade:
Used in conjunction with cone bottom tanks for gentle inter-mixing and solid suspension of heavy products with scraper blades affording the maxiumum heat transfer and twin baffles providing gentle folding, shearing and blending action.  Best suited for viscous and tenacious products, such as:
Heavy Syrups
Pet Foods
Pie Fillings
Cheese Spreads, etc.

Agitator maxiumum speed is approximately 35 rpm and is available in single, two, or variable speed drives, ranging from 1 to 7-1/2 hp.

Vertical Bar Heavy Product Scraper Blade:
Again used in conjunction with cone bottom tanks for gentle intermixing and solid suspension of heavy products, with scraper blades affording the maximum heat transfer and the vertical bars providing a gentle folding of the product.  Best suited for viscous products, such as:
Syrups
Milk Products
Creams, Macaroni and Cheese
Ice Cream Mixes
Ripple Sauces for Ice Cream

Agitator maxiumum speed is approximately 35 rpm and is available in single, two, or variable speed drives, ranging from 1 to 7-1/2 hp.

Scraper Blade/Squirrel Cage Combination:
Used for products which require both high speed mixing and thorough gentle blending during the cooking and/or cooling function.  In order to achieve maximum performance, dual agitation is provided.  A high speed squirrel cage agitator is used for the rapid dispersal and incorporation of ingredients into the product,  and a scraper blade agitator operating at low rpm moves the product over the heat exchange surface while continuing the blending action.  The slow gentle agitation assists in keeping the ingredients in suspension.

The combination agitator speeds would be identical to the standard scraper blade and squirrel cage when not used in combination.

Counter Rotating Scraper Blade:
Used for light or heavy viscous products for rapid mixing and shearing action.  The vigorous or gentle action of this agitator makes it best suited for most products not of a tenacious nature.  The full capabilities of this agitator are yet to be explored.  Speeds and hp can be multiples, depending upon product.

Counter Flow Dual Agitators:
Used for rapid incorporation and mixing of condiments into a heavy base product.  Originally designed for a salad dressing application.

Hydraulic variable speed motors at a maximum of 100 rpm were used.

Agitators are capable of handling other products, such as:
Fruit Drink
Slurries, etc.

Blade 45° Turbine:
Used for mixing and maintaining solid suspension of products similar to:
Whey Concentrate
Salad Dressing Bases
Sauces
Gravies
Starch Slurries
Pudding Mixes, etc.

Agitator speeds are 96 rpm maximum and are available in single or two-speed drives, ranging up to 20 hp.

Ladder Type Total Sweep:
Used for gentle blending and solid suspension of products similar to whey concentrate, heavy cream, condensed skim, etc.  Sweeping action provides good heat transfer with cross-blade providing a gentle lifting and solid suspension.

Agitator speeds are 15 rpm maximum, available in single-speed drives, ranging up to 20 hp.

Helical:
Used for gentle agitation, solid suspension, and good heat transfer on products, similar to whey concentrate and heavy creams. 

Agitator speeds are 9 rpm maximum and single speed drives up to 20 hp.

Ladder Type Heavy Products Scraper Blade:
Used on very viscous and tenacious products, providing a gentle mixing action and good heat transfer with solid suspension.  This agitator is primarily used in our citrus tank, so it is excellent  for high degree Brix solutions.

Agitator speed is 20 rpm maximum and is available in single or two-speed drives, ranging up to 20 hp.

Horizontal Impeller – Vertical Storage:
Used for mild agitation and solid suspension in vertical storage tanks up to 25,000 gallons in capacity.  Primarily used on milk products, but can be used on light oils, light syrups, etc.

Agitator speeds are 175 rpm maximum and available in single or two speed drives, ranging up to 5 hp.

Horizontal Impeller/Air Agitation Combination Vertical Storage:
Used primarily on 25,000 gallon tanks and up, with results the same as horizontal impeller alone, except air agitation providing continuous and complete action up to the top.

Agitator speeds and hp are same as standard horizontal impeller alone.

Horizontal Impeller – Horizontal Storage:
Used for storage and blending of milk products primarily, can be used for light oils, syrups, fructose, etc.

Agitator speed is approximately 140 rpm maximum and is available in single or two-speed drives, ranging up to 5 hp.

Vertical Ladder Type – Horizontal Storage:
Used for gentle blending and mixing with good solids suspension.  Primarily used for ice cream mixes, but can be used for milk products, creams, etc.

Agitator speeds are 48 rpm maximum, available in single or two-speed drives up to 7-1/2 hp.

Wide Sweep – Horizontal Storage:
Used primarily for storage of oil, milk products, and other light products.  Agitator provides a gentle mixing action and good solids suspension.

Agitator speeds are 36 rpm maximum and is available in single or two-speed drives up to 5 hp.

Vertical Ladder Type – Horizontal Storage:
Used for gentle blending and mixing with good solids suspension.  Primarily used for ice cream mixes, but can be used for milk products, creams, etc.

Agitator speeds are 48 rpm maximum, available in single or two-speed drives up to 7-1/2 hp.
